Some of the best things from washington was going to the Lincoln Memorial and seeing the big over-sized Abraham. It wasnt that long of a walk either so it was very good. Another good thing was seeing the Washington Monuement and walking around. The bus ride was the best though because it was really fun.

Proudest Moment
Luke DiGuglielmo
My proudest moment is tricky because I have had so many. Overall if I would have to pick one a special one comes to mind. Out of all of my memories this one stands far above them.
My proudest moment so far was when I came in the top 50 at Nationals for cross country. I made second All-American and I was very proud. I made top 50 out of 500 kids my age. It was in Florida at the World Wide Complex of Sports and it was very hot. It was sunny but very dry and in the 90* area. During the race a lot of kids vomited from the extreme heat. Luckly I didn’t and I was glad. I got a medal but it wasn’t that big. There was a lot of big kids but I wasn’t scared. I put up a good fight and I did great.

When I came to Mariner my main accomplishment was to pass every grade and move on to high school. So far I’m doing pretty well. I have passed 6th and 7th with only a couple weeks of 8th left. So right now I’m on my way to completing middle school and starting a new life in high school. Also another accomplishment was to do well in sports and I have succeeded that by far. I started soccer all 3 years, was really good in basketball, and have the schools mile record at 5 minutes 26 seconds! I can say middle school was fun for me and for most of my friends. I had great teachers the whole way. I couldn’t have asked for a greater middle school experience.

I have had a lot of memories in middle school. Sports, acknowledgements for good work, that’s a lot to be proud of. I personally think there is one memory that stands above the rest.
Winning prince in 7th grade! I could not believe I had won. I wasn’t even thinking about it because I was going against probably the two most popular seventh graders at the time. Jon Warren and Kevin Larkin Were my competition and I thought I was out of it. I was having fun at the dance but when they called my name for prince I was over joyed and couldn’t have been happier.
8th grade is here now and it would be cool to win king but I’m not counting on it and don’t really care. People said they will vote for me and I said ok but whoever wins, wins. That’s the end but I’m just proud I got prince. Getting prince was my best middle school memory and I’m sticking with it.

Mia Hamm
Mia Hamm started soccer at a young age. She grew up playing soccer because her dad was a coach. She was natural at soccer. Growing up with a brother with a deadly disease did not stop her.
Mia Hamm is like the David Beckham for soccer. She is a finesse player. She is fast and can get the ball in back of the net. She is a game changer. She is just a beast player. She won so many championships before the age of 25.
Her brother Garret died from rare a plastic anemia, a disease that happens when a person’s bone marrow is either destroyed or not able to function correctly. He died after a successful bone marrow transplant in February, 1997. His death date was in April 1996, and he died at the age of 28.
Mia started a foundation to find a cure for the rare disease. She didn’t want Other kids to die from this disease. She loves him so much she didn’t want other kid’s dreams to be killed because of a disease. So she made a foundation to find a cure.
This book is wonderful. It tells you how good you can be, all you have to do is try. You don’t have to be rich. You can always be the best. Superstars are made when no one is looking. Champions are not born there made. But if you practice and play hard you can be a superstar. Even if your rich or not. Mia Hamm wasn’t rich but she still was a superstar.

Success is counted sweetest
By those who ne’er succeed.
To comprehend a nectar
Requires sorest need. Not one of all the purple Host
Who took the Flag today
Can tell the definition
So clear of Victory
As he defeated–dying–
On whose forbidden ear
The distant strains of triumph
Burst agonized and clear!

I thought the earth remembered me,
she took me back so tenderly,
arranging her dark skirts, her pockets
full of lichens and seeds.
I slept as never before, a stone on the river bed,
nothing between me and the white fire of the stars
but my thoughts, and they floated light as moths
among the branches of the perfect trees.
All night I heard the small kingdoms
breathing around me, the insects,
and the birds who do their work in the darkness.
All night I rose and fell, as if in water,
grappling with a luminous doom. By morning
I had vanished at least a dozen times
into something better.

We, unaccustomed to courage
exiles from delight
live coiled in shells of loneliness
until love leaves its high holy temple
and comes into our sight
to liberate us into life.
Love arrives
and in its train come ecstasies
old memories of pleasure
ancient histories of pain.
Yet if we are bold,
love strikes away the chains of fear
from our souls.
We are weaned from our timidity
In the flush of love’s light
we dare be brave
And suddenly we see
that love costs all we are
and will ever be.
Yet it is only love
which sets us free.

I’ve got the children to tend
The clothes to mend
The floor to mop
The food to shop
Then the chicken to fry
The baby to dry
I got company to feed
The garden to weed
I’ve got shirts to press
The tots to dress
The can to be cut
I gotta clean up this hut
Then see about the sick
And the cotton to pick.
Shine on me, sunshine
Rain on me, rain
Fall softly, dewdrops
And cool my brow again.
Storm, blow me from here
With your fiercest wind
Let me float across the sky
‘Til I can rest again.
Fall gently, snowflakes
Cover me with white
Cold icy kisses and
Let me rest tonight.
Sun, rain, curving sky
Mountain, oceans, leaf and stone
Star shine, moon glow
You’re all that I can call my own.
